I hope to attend any meetings nearby.

I worked 31 yrs for Environment Canada and was involved in environmental reviews and development of the EIA process.

Subsequently, I taught EIA at U of Alberta, UofCalgary, LCC, and Arctic College. At UofC, I taught it for 10 straight years. What is EIA?

I have always taught that the term "Environmental Assessment" is incorrect. That term refers to assessing the environment, as in stream flow measurements, tree surveys, wildlife counting, etc. The impact of the environment on humans.

The preferred term is: "Environmental Impact Assessment"; that is, assessment of the impact of human activity on the environment.

I urge you and your colleagues to consider this change.
